THE STORY BEHIND
Philocalist
I’ve always loved flowers, and the idea that they could be preserved to capture a memory or an emotion gives me great joy. Drawing my inspiration from nature, I let the artwork speak for itself as I bring the preserved flowers to life.
My most vivid memory of the day I first realised that I wanted to persue my creative dreams: I was walking in the rain while picking flowers in the fields, amazed at how many beautiful wildflowers grew without anyone cultivating them.
This evoked something deep inside of me: the flowers blooming in season spoke to me; they symbolized God’s provision. Just as He cares for the wildflowers,
so He will take care of me too (Matthew 6:30). This just had to be shared.
And so Philocalist – meaning lover of beauty – was born.
It started as a platform to express my love and appreciation for all things beautiful:
to deliberately notice and see the things that might be insignificant to others.
I am experimenting with different mediums to let the creativity flow and capture them beauty of nature. Currently, I am exploring the fields of flower art, wedding bouquet keepsakesa and small epoxy flower art pieces. I cannot wait to see what the future holds. With my artworks I hope I get to share a little bit of what the beauty of flowers means to me.
